Elin Pritchard is rapidly emerging as one of the UK’s most exciting new Verdi sopranos. Following a breakthrough summer in 2026, in which she made a major impact as Amelia in Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera for Opera Holland Park and as Elisabetta in Don Carlo for Grange Park Opera, Pritchard is establishing herself as a leading interpreter of the great Verdi heroines.
Her 2026 Verdi season has attracted striking critical acclaim. As Amelia at Opera Holland Park, Bachtrack declared that “the evening belonged to Pritchard”, describing her as “sensational” throughout, with a creamy soprano “filled with drama”. A graduate with distinction of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and London’s National Opera Studio, she has rapidly built a reputation for both vocal and dramatic versatility, creating fully rounded characters for a 21st-century operatic audience.
Her acclaimed roles include Micaela in Carmen and Mimì in La bohème for Welsh National Opera; Rusalka for Garsington Opera and the Edinburgh International Festival; Musetta and Ofglen in The Handmaid’s Tale for English National Opera; Vixen in The Cunning Little Vixen, Kupava in The Snow Maiden, Nedda in I Pagliacci and Flowermaiden in Parsifal for Opera North; Manon Lescaut and Alice in Falstaff for The Grange Festival; Tatyana in Eugene Onegin, Violetta and Fiordiligi for Den Jyske Opera; Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni for Finnish National Opera; Lucia di Lammermoor and Marie in The Daughter of the Regiment for Buxton Festival Opera; Tosca for English Touring Opera and Mid Wales Opera; Nedda in I Pagliacci for Mid Wales Opera; Musetta in La bohème, Miss Jessel in The Turn of the Screw and Giorgetta in Il tabarro for Opera Holland Park. Her repertoire includes Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra, Bruckner’s Mass in F minor, Brahms’ Requiem, Dvořák’s Te Deum, Fauré’s Requiem, Gounod’s Messe Solennelle, Haydn’s St Nicholas Mass with the English Chamber Orchestra, Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Mass in C minor and Requiem, Poulenc’s Gloria with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Vaughan Williams’ Sea Symphony and Verdi’s Requiem.
In October 2026 she makes her debut at the Sydney Opera House, singing the Soprano in Britten's War Requiem. Elin can currently be seen in the Welsh opera film Tanau'r Lloer / Fires of the Moon, available on BBC iPlayer and Channel 4 on demand.
